say less ("we") makes an app that shows your Gmail as chats. This policy explains what we access, what we keep, and how to delete it.
What we access
When you connect a Gmail account, say less uses Google's Gmail API to read, send and label email in that account so it can show your mail as chats and send your replies. We only access accounts you connect, and you can disconnect any account at any time.
If you allow it, say less also reads your Google contacts, only to show people's photos next to their chats. It never changes your contacts, and the app works without this permission.
say less’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the
Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
What we store
- Message metadata and the text needed to show your chats (sender, recipients, subject, date, and the cleaned message body).
- OAuth tokens for your connected accounts, encrypted at rest.
- Links to the photos of people in your Google contacts, if you allowed contacts access.
- Push notification tokens for your devices.
- Your settings, such as muted chats and quiet hours.
- Basic crash and usage diagnostics, not linked to message content.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
- We don't let humans read your email, except with your explicit permission for support, when required for security, or when required by law.
- We don't use your email to train AI models, and say less has no AI features today.
Pictures and images
- Emails show their images, which your phone loads straight from the sender's servers. We remove invisible tracking pixels first.
- To show a picture next to a person, say less uses the photo from your Google contacts when you've allowed that. Otherwise the app asks Gravatar for one, using a scrambled (hashed) form of their email address.
- To show a brand's icon in your Feed, the app asks Google's icon service for it, using the sender's website name.
- Your own picture is the one on your Google account.
Where data lives
Our backend runs on Cloudflare. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Deleting your data
In the app, go to Settings → Delete account. This disconnects every Gmail account, revokes our access, and deletes the data we store, right away. Your email stays in Gmail. You can also delete your account at sayless.sh/delete-account.
Children
say less is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
